A suspect has been charged in the double homicide at a senior residences in Lyons, Illinois

Two charges of First degree murder have been filed against John Arnold, 67, in the brutal slaying on Sunday morning (April 24) of two individuals at the River Walk Senior Residences, 8019 Ogden Avenue in the Village of Lyons, Illinois. Arnold was a neighbor of the victim and lived in the River Walk Senior Residences.

The two victims, who were discovered Monday Afternoon during an ambulance well-being check, are:

Male Victim is identified as David Bosseler, 73, who lived in the River Walk Senior Residences.

Female victim, 51, years old (still seeking relatives so her name has not been released to the public). She also lived in the River Walk Senior Residences. (She is identified as Black but her citizenship status is unconfirmed.)

Police said that Bosseler and the female victim knew the offender, Arnold, and they got into an argument with the offender over the weekend about missing property. The offender Arnold told Police that Bosseler had taken the property.

The murders took place in the early morning hours on Sunday, April 24. Police said Arnold waited outside Bosseler’s  apartment until the door opened and lunged into the apartment. While inside the apartment, Arnold attacked both victims with a large knife and both victims received multiple stab wounds causing their deaths.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in Bridgeview Bond Court Wednesday.

Lyons Police and South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force conducted a joint investigation of this incident. South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force did a tremendous job in solving this double homicide and should be credited on their professionalism.
