A representative of Walgreen’s Pharmacy is scheduled to be the guest speaker at the Orland Fire Protection District’s Senior Advisory Council  luncheon. Also addressing the attendees will be Orland Fire Chief Ken Brucki, President District Board of Trustees President Jim Hickey and Cook County Board Commissioner Elizabeth “Liz Doody Gorman.

Brucki and Hickey will make presentations on the district’s efforts to tighten spending, improve emergency services and discuss new emergency training programs for the public, such as the AED program and Community CARE, while, Gorman will discuss services to seniors.

The Corned beef and cabbage luncheon will be held on Friday March 13 at the OFPD administration’s headquarters at 9790 W. 151st Street starting at 11 am. The cost of attendance including lunch is $10, which will be used to cover the event costs and support the Senior Advisory Council’s programs and activities.

The Senior Advisory Council’s mandate is to serve as a liaison between the district’s senior population and Fire District officials. SAC also coordinates and sponsors education programs for seniors for various groups including homeowners associations, community groups and the public at large on issues that include Safety tips, CPR Training, Knox Boxes and 911 calls. SAC members also serve as volunteers at various Fire District events, including supporting the Fire DIstrict Foundation’s activities and summer programs such as the Open House.

Attendees will receive tours of the Administration Building, Fire Station 1 and the 911 Dispatch Center and afterwards will enjoy an afternoon of Bingo.
